About Instituto de Banca y Comercio Inc
Instituto de Banca y Comercio Inc (IBC) was a private, for-profit college in Puerto Rico, established in 1974. It specialized in vocational and technical training programs and operated multiple campuses across the island, including main locations in Guaynabo and Caguas. At its peak, IBC enrolled up to 8,295 students, with a student-to-teacher ratio of 15:1, and served a diverse student body, primarily composed of Hispanic students. IBC offered 29 programs, including short-term training, postsecondary certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees in various vocational fields. In 2025, IBC closed and became part of NUC University’s Technical Division, which expanded its offerings to include diplomas in Culinary Arts, Beauty, Health, Education, Construction, and Arts & Technology. The integration allowed NUC University to serve over 20,000 students annually across multiple campuses and centers, continuing the legacy of IBC's commitment to career education.
