About LITE Lab HKU
LITE Lab@HKU, based at the University of Hong Kong, is an interdisciplinary academic program that integrates law, technology, and entrepreneurship. Launched in 2019 by the Faculty of Law in collaboration with various departments, it serves as a hub for legal innovation, focusing on the intersection of law and emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, and data. The lab offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses, emphasizing experiential learning through hands-on projects and internships. The program is structured around two main initiatives: Emerging Law of Technology and Innovative Technology of Law. Students engage in research projects that address real-world legal challenges, particularly in tech startups and social entrepreneurship. LITE Lab also produces tangible outputs, including lawtech and regtech prototypes, research publications, and collaborative solutions for under-resourced partners. The lab fosters a community environment with access to facilities and events that support innovation and collaboration among students and industry partners.
